Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from this week’s Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.

The world number two has pulled out for personal reasons but admitted he was tired last weekend at the Wachovia Championship.

Tournament chairman Pat Bolin said: “We’re obviously disappointed to lose the number-two player in the world and the reigning Masters champion.”

World number one Tiger Woods has also withdrawn from the tournament after the death of his father last week.
