Lehman unshaken by shooting incident

American Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman was all set for his 13th Masters today after frightening incident when his car was allegedly shot at.

It resulted in the arrest and jailing of a 26-year-old man last night.

Troy Willis Smith, from Augusta, was being held on two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in commission of a crime, according to Investigator Tom Johnson of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson added former Open champion Lehman, who captains America at the K Club near Dublin in September, was on his way to Augusta airport late Tuesday night to pick up his son when a vehicle sped past and he heard a loud explosion.

A bullet hole was found in the rear driver’s side door. Lehman was not hurt and participated in the Wednesday par three contest.

According to Johnson, Smith was arrested after a separate shooting Tuesday night.

Lehman was teeing off with European Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam at 9.28am local time (2.48pm BST) today.
