DiMarco confident over fitness

Chris DiMarco, beaten by Tiger Woods in the play-off at last year’s Masters, is hoping to be back to 100% fitness for the opening round at Augusta on Thursday.

DiMarco pulled out of the Players Championship a fortnight ago after a rib injury suffered while skiing and on his return in Atlanta last week had rounds of 75 and 78 to miss the halfway cut.

“I was very, very rusty – I hadn’t played golf for about 17 days and I don’t think I’ve done that in 10 years,” said the American.

“The rib is a lot better. It’s really a non-issue now. Really the biggest problem last week was my foot.

“It started hurting because I was not putting much pressure on that side of my body and I just kind of got tendonitis. I feel like I’m 90-95% and hopefully by Thursday I’ll be 100%.”
