Hot-shot Stadler

Kevin Stadler has become the first American to win the RBS shot of the month award after his victory in the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth in February.

Stadler, who played the event on an invitation, led from start to finish and the 26-year-old capped a great week when his three iron from 220 yards to the 18th green on the final day finished inches from the hole for an eagle three.

The shot won him the RBS Trophy and £1,000 (€1,460) to donate to charity.

Second place went to Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, who almost holed his approach from the rough to the 14th green in his second-round tie against Argentina’s Angel Cabrera in the World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play at La Costa.
