Singh struggling for form

World number two Vijay Singh continued to struggle around a blustery Doha Golf Course in his third round in the Commercialbank Qatar Masters.

The Fijian was determined to get to the root of his putting problems after round one, but two days on he seems no closer to resolving the issue.

He had bemoaned missing chances to convert pars into birdies all week and, with four holes left, the 42-year-old was still kicking himself.

His one-over round saw him make just one birdie and drop shots at the sixth and the 14th, leaving him a long way from the top of the leaderboard, where Sweden’s Henrik Stenson sits at 10-under, a stroke clear of Argentinian Ricardo Gonzalez.

Six holes into his third round, Ernie Els, who equalled Berhard Langer’s record of 69 successive European Tour cuts made on Friday, was faring little better.

The South African world number five started at two-under and remains there, holing a birdie at the first and then a bogey three holes later.

Danny Denison, the 20-year-old who is the only amateur in the field, will have learnt more valuable lessons on his one-under-par round of 71.

Ian Poulter’s four-over round by the 15th was beset by dropped shots, including a double bogey at the par-three third for the Englishman, on a day when scores were expected to be higher across the board given the windier conditions.

Ireland's Peter Lawrie is on one under after today's round, tied in 36th place. Paul McGinley is still on the course, on -4 after nine holes. He is tied in 13th place. Damien McGrane is four under, also in 13th place. Darren Clarke finished one over today.
