Woods honoured

Tiger Woods has been named Player of the Year by his fellow competitors on the USPGA Tour.

It was the world number one’s seventh award in the last nine seasons and caps a year in which he won six times and led the Tour in earnings with more than $10m (€8.5m).

Woods also won two Majors – The Masters and The Open – and PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem said: “No honour is higher than that of being selected by your peers. Tiger had a remarkable season and earned the recognition.”

Woods also won the Arnold Palmer Award for leading the Tour in earnings and the Byron Nelson Trophy for having the lowest scoring average (68.66).

Dana Quigley and Jason Gore were named Players of the Year by their fellow competitors on the Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour respectively
