Campbell wins June shot award

US Open champion Michael Campbell has won the European Tour’s RBS Shot of the Month award for June.

The New Zealander goes head to head with Tiger Woods in the first two rounds of the USPGA championship this week.

His award came for his magnificent tee shot at the par-three 17th hole at Pinehurst during his final round en route to his maiden Major.

Under pressure from Woods, Campbell struck an eight-iron to within 20 feet of the hole and sank the putt to take a three-shot lead into the final hole.

In second place was the fairway bunker shot played by South African Retief Goosen on the 14th hole during his third round at the US Open, while third was Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano’s superb approach straight into the hole for an eagle two at the third hole on the final day of the KLM Open in Holland.
