Dredge out in front

Wales’ Bradley Dredge takes a two-shot lead into today’s final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship in Hamburg.

Dredge carded a third-round 69 at Gut Kaden for a 12-under-par total of 204, a superb recovery after losing a ball with his very first shot of the €3.5m event on Friday.

Overnight leader Niclas Fasth shares second place on 10 under after a 72, alongside fellow Swede Henrik Stenson (69) and Ireland’s Peter Lawrie (70).

US Open champion Michael Campbell is a shot further back on nine under after a 71, the New Zealander in a seven-strong group including England’s Nick Dougherty and Scottish pair Stephen Gallacher and Steven O’Hara.

Former Open champion John Daly, who fired a superb 64 yesterday, could only manage a 73 however to drop back to five under, seven shots off the pace.

The final two rounds are being played today to make up for lost time following Thursday’s complete washout.
