Colin Montgomerie’s second place at the Open has put him into the 16-man field for the HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth in September.

After just being pipped by Kenneth Ferrie for one of two places off designated European tour events Montgomerie is certain now to qualify off the table of major performances this season.
