Colin Montgomerie, 81st in the world rankings at the start of 2005, now finds himself back up to 22nd following his second place in the Open championship.
The 42-year-old Scot had made a place in the top 25 his objective by the end of the season, but now the former number two – that was almost 10 years ago - can start targeting a top-10 spot.
