Wilson soars with eagle
Cool and breezy conditions greeted the early starters for the third round of the KLM Open in Holland and that meant low scores were going to be at a premium.
There appeared to be little concern for English duo Gary Emerson (eight under) and Paul Broadhurst (seven under), the last pair scheduled to start at 2pm local time.
Frenchman Benoit Teilleria proved it was possible to go low, however, with a round of 66 which included six birdies and two bogeys but that only lifted him to level par and a share of 27th place with virtually all the field still to finish.
One of the highlights of the morning was Mansfield’s Oliver Wilson eagling the 18th to finish with a round of 69 and improve his overnight score by one to three over.
The 24-year-old drilled his approach to the 493-yard par-five to within 15 feet of the pin and holed a left to right putt.
Tunbridge Wells’ Jamie Spence moved into red figures with a run of three birdies from the third to turn in 32 at one under.
And Hertfordshire’s Philip Golding opened with two birdies to also move to one under.
