Padraig Harrington has flown back to America for the Masters after spending a week with his father Paddy, who was recently diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus.

Harrington, Europe’s top player in the world rankings and winner of his first US Tour title four weeks ago, pulled out of last week’s BellSouth Classic in Atlanta so he could return to Dublin.
