Hoey ties for lead in Indonesia
Ireland’s Michael Hoey is tied for the lead at the Indonesian Open after carding an eight-under-par opening round 62 this morning.
Hoey and Arjun Atwal – who registered eight birdies in a 14-hole stretch - set the early pace.
Hoey, a 26-year-old from Belfast, started on the back nine and bogeyed 12 and 13 before four birdies in his next five holes took him to the turn in 32.
The Ballymoney-born player improved dramatically in his closing nine holes with four birdies and an eagle three at the sixth.
Ireland’s Ryder Cup star Paul McGinley is one under after five holes.
