Bjorn backs home event

Two-time Ryder Cup winner Thomas Bjorn is to sponsor a European Challenge Tour event this summer in his native Denmark.

The Thomas Bjorn Open, presented by Multidata, will be held at the Esbjerg Golfklub in June and will become a Challenge Tour fixture for the next three years.

“I have decided to become involved in the tournament as the Challenge Tour has a huge influence on the development of professional golf in Denmark,” said Bjorn, who won the Challenge Tour in 1995 and successfully made the leap to the European Tour where he has won seven times.

“The Challenge Tour gave me many great experiences and challenges in the beginning of my career.

“I am therefore pleased to be able to give back to the Challenge Tour and to the Danish players on the tour.”
