Irish golfers Pádraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell have made the cut, but remain well off the pace after the second round of the Honda Classic in Florida.

Harrington shot an even-par 142 over two rounds, with Graeme McDowell one shot further back on 143.

Wetterich tops the leaderboard after the second round of the Honda Classic.

Brett Wetterich, whose best PGA Tour finish was a tie for eighth here in 2002, carded his second consecutive bogey-free six-under-par 66 to top the leaderboard.

He fired three birdies on each side for a two-round total of 12-under 132.

Winner of two Nationwide Tour events, Wetterich earned his PGA Tour exemption by finishing 10th on the junior circuit money list last year. A win here and the Nationwide Tour would be a distant memory.

“It is nice, obviously, to be in a position where you have a chance to shoot a couple of good rounds and maybe change your life,” Wetterich said.

Lee Janzen got hot on his back nine and shot an eight-under 64 to vault into second place at 133. The two-time US Open champion started at number 10 and had birdies on two of his first four holes. He eagled the par-five fifth and followed with three consecutive birdies.

Chad Campbell, who entered the round with a two-shot lead, is tied for third with Robert Damron at 135.

Some big names are lurking further down the leaderboard and have the capability to go low and get back into contention. Davis Love III, Justin Leonard and Vijay Singh each shot first-round 71s and followed with 69s.

Ireland’s Pádraig Harrington made the cut on an even-par 142, with Graeme McDowell one shot further back on 143.
