Els moves ahead in Dubai

Ernie Els has moved into a one-shot lead at the Dubai Desert Classic after carding a six-under-par opening-round 66 today.

English duo David Howell and Sam Osbourne are tied with Spain’s Miguel Angel Jiminez for second place on five under par.

Eslewhere, Ireland's Paul McGinley completed his round on two under par, while Damien McGrane carded a one-under-par 71.

Peter Lawrie and Gary Murphy both ended the day three over par.
