Dougherty defies Monty to land first title

Liverpool’s Nick Dougherty held off the challenge of Colin Montgomerie to win his first European Tour event at the Caltex Masters in Singapore.

The 22-year-old, a protégé of Nick Faldo, took the lead from Montgomerie at halfway and hung on to win by five shots on 18 under with a final round 67.
