Tiger hunts down Lehman
If Tom Lehman is going to snap his winless drought, he is going to have to stare down Tiger Woods to do it.
Woods caught Lehman for the lead just before darkness halted play late in the third round of the Buick Invitational at La Jolla in California.
After Friday’s round was suspended late in the day due to heavy fog, weather again was a factor yesterday.
The leaders got through just five holes, with Woods pulling into a tie at 14 under with birdies on his first two holes.
Lehman, who has not won since the 2000 Phoenix Open, was one over through five holes.
England’s Luke Donald and Australian Peter Lonard are tied for third, with Ernie Els of South Africa in a three-way tie for fifth.
Vijay Singh, who overtook Woods atop the world rankings last year, is tied for 11th.
The winner at last week’s Sony Open, Singh is at eight under.
