Rose has late show but Smail wins Casio World Open
England’s Justin Rose fired a one-under-par 71 on the final day of the Casio World Open to secure a top-10 finish in Japan.
Rose finished the tournament in ninth place on seven under, five shots adrift of American winner David Smail, who also closed with a 71.
Hunter Mahan was a shot back in second after a 70 while home hopes Takashi Kamiyama, Hisayuki Sasaki and Ryoken Kawagishi shared third alongside South African Charl Schwartzel, a further two strokes adrift.
Scot Colin Montgomerie came with a late surge to claim a share of 12th place, a 69 pushing him up to four under after an opening 74 had hindered his chances of a big week.
