Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley just missed out on the first sub-60 score of their golfing lives today – yet still found themselves only joint leaders with unfancied Austria after the first day of the World Cup in Seville.

After McGinley had holed two bunker shots, one for birdie and the other for eagle, and the Dublin pair had also notched nine other birdies they came to the 432-yard last hole of the Real Club with the chance to record that magic 59 figure in the opening fourballs.
