Paul Casey was today trying to battle back into contention for the British Open championship at Royal Troon.

Casey shared the first round lead after an opening 66 but crashed to a 77 yesterday to lie one over par at halfway, just two shots inside the cut and eight shots off the lead held by unheralded American Skip Kendall.
