Newell sees partner get hole-in-one
Luton manager Mike Newell had a special memory to take away from caddying for Ian Garbutt in the final round of the Diageo Championship at Gleneagles today - a hole-in-one from playing partner Robert Coles.
The Essex golfer had his first competitive ace with a three-wood to the 211-yard fourth, having already eagled the long second.
When he turned in 30 and then birdied the 10th, a course record was possible, but in the end Coles had to settle for a 67 and a bottle of tequila for the hole-in-one.
Former Everton and Leeds player Ian Snodin caddied for Garbutt in the first three rounds, but then had to pull out and Newell agreed to step in.
