Lane comes good at last
England’s Barry Lane, playing his 499th European tour event and without a victory for 10 years, won the Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters at the Forest of Arden today.
The 43-year-old Lane, who until he woke up on Thursday did not even know if he could play because of a knee problem, had a chip-in eagle and five birdies in a superb closing 66 to beat Argentinians Eduardo Romero and Angel Cabrera by three.
