Veteran Lane shares the lead
Barry Lane fired a flawless third-round 67 to claim a share of the lead going into the final round of the Caltex Masters in Singapore.
Lane carded five birdies at Laguna National for a 13-under-par total of 203, a score matched by journeyman American Greg Hanrahan on his 46th birthday.
Singapore’s Mardan Mamat was two shots behind in third with Colin Montgomerie sharing fourth two strokes further back alongside Jonathan Lomas, France’s Thomas Levet and South African James Kingston.
Lane is playing in his 496th European Tour event and will become only the 10th player to reach the milestone of 500 in a few weeks’ time.
The Englishman joined the tour in 1982 and has spent more than half of his 43 years treading the golf courses of the world but retains an amazing infectious enthusiasm in his 23rd year on the circuit.
Peter Lawrie shares ninth place on seven-under, while Damien McGrane is two shots further back.
