Ernie Els extended his commanding lead at the Heineken Classic to eight shots as he continued his stride towards a third consecutive title at Royal Melbourne.

There were no records broken, unlike the first two days when Els fired a 60 and 66, but his third round of 68 left the defending champion leading on 22 under par.
