Verplank leads Mickelson by one

Scott Verplank had to contend with ice in the opening round of the FBR Open, before posting an eight-under-par 63 to take a one-shot lead over Phil Mickelson.

“I can’t remember the last time I was chipping ice off the bottom of my shoes where we were actually counting our score,” Verplank said.
