Mallon puts Sorenstam in the shade

Annika Sorenstam suffered a rare defeat today when American Meg Mallon produced a great back nine of 31 in a 67 to win the ADT Tour Players’ Championship in Florida.

Sorenstam, the defending champion, led by three going into the final round at West Palm Beach and looked to be in control when she reached the turn still two ahead. But Mallon launched an attack that not even the world number one could match.
