Philip Walton's hopes of gaining a European Tour card appear to have slipped away at the final round of the European tour qualifying school in Spain today.

The hopes of 1995 Ryder Cup hero Philip Walton were all but over when he had bogey sixes at both the 13th and 18th to turn in 36 and so remain only nine under.

The 41-year-old is making his fifth successive visit to the school and unless he plays his last nine holes in 30 maximum it would be his fifth failure.
