Clarke wins shot award

Darren Clarke’s 40-foot birdie putt en route to victory in the NEC world championship in Akron has won the European tour’s Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Month award for August.

The Dungannon-man made the putt on the 13th hole of a final round which ended with him a four-stroke winner of the $1m (€870,000) first prize.
