Monty joins UBS Cup line-up
Colin Montgomerie, 40 last month, is to play in the "old men's Ryder Cup" in America later this season.
Montgomerie will make his debut in the UBS Cup, joining new Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Langer, Ian Woosnam and Sam Torrance in the Rest of the World team led by Tony Jacklin for the first time against the United States at Sea Island, Georgia, on November 21-23.
Nobody under 40 is eligible for the match and the two teams also include players from the over-50 US and European seniors tours as well. America will be led again by Arnold Palmer.
Montgomerie is currently out of action after falling at his hotel on the opening morning of the Open last week and injuring his hand. He completed only seven holes at Sandwich before withdrawing and pulled out of this week's Irish Open.
