Howell on course for Open

England’s David Howell remains on course to secure his place in next week’s Open championship at the halfway stage of the Scottish Open.

Fifteen places are up for grabs this week with seven going to the highest finishers in a mini Order of Merit from the Volvo PGA to this week, while eight go to the leading players in the tournament not otherwise exempt.
