Golding wins Golfer of Month award

England’s Phil Golding has been named as the Asprey Golfer of the Month for June after his maiden European Tour win in the French Open.

The 41-year-old, who has made a record 16 visits to the qualifying school, birdied the final hole at Le Golf National in Paris to win in his 201st event.

Golding was chosen ahead of three other players to record their maiden win during the month – Greg Owen claiming the British Masters, Australian Brett Rumford winning the St Omer Open and Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen taking the Diageo Championship – and also Australian Stephen Leaney who finished second in the US Open.
