Play-off drama in Tenerife

England’s Kenneth Ferrie has won the Canaries Spanish Open after a dramatic three-way play-off with Ireland’s Peter Lawrie and Swede Peter Hedblom in Tenerife today.

Ferrie won the three-way play off at the second extra hole (par-5 18th) with a birdie.

All three players birdied the first play-off hole (18th).

Dubliner Lawrie, in his first full season on the circuit, sank a four-foot eagle putt at the last to set the 22 under par target.

Hedblom looked set to beat that, but three-putted the hole for par, missing from five feet.

When Ferrie birdied the 15th, 16th and 17th to draw level he was favourite to win. But a bad drive at the downwind 542-yard 18th led to a par five for him as well.
