Mooney uses psychology to lead Pro-am in Bundoran

In the opening round of the €15,000 Great Northern Hotel Pro-am event, the Laganview professional fired a three-under par 67 to leap into the overnight lead, two strokes ahead of the chasing pack.

Mooney began his round at the tenth hole and covered the back nine in 34 shots with a birdie three at the 15th.

Another birdie three was made at the first hole and another at the 8th.

He didn't dropped a shot throughout.

Mooney said: "I missed only two greens and played fairly steady golf.

"I am finding that a course I took on golf psychology has been very helpful to me"

Two shots back are Leslie Robinson, Leslie Walker, and Gary McNeill.
