Ernie Els made a blistering start to the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth, where Wales’ Jamie Donaldson set the early clubhouse target.

Els reached the turn in a seven-under-par 29, having sunk five birdies and an eagle on the par-five fifth to lead the field from his playing partner Peter O’Malley.
