Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobson has been named Asprey Golfer of the Month for November, for which he earns a £1,000 charity donation for The Golf Foundation.

The Asprey Panel discussed a distinguished list of contenders which included Padraig Harrington (BMW Asian Open), Bernhard Langer (tied for Volvo Masters Andalucia), Colin Montgomerie (tied for Volvo Masters Andalucia and winner of the TCL Classic) and Ernie Els (Nedbank Golf Challenge).

Jacobson won the award for his victory in the Omega Hong Kong Open, the 28-year-old securing his maiden title after finishing second on six previous occasions.

He said: “I am honoured to be voted Asprey Golfer of the Month ahead of so many deserving candidates.

“I’m obviously delighted I finally won my first tournament after coming second so many times and am happy for all the people who have supported me through the years.

“It was particularly tough finishing second in Scotland (in a play-off with Eduardo Romero for the Scottish Open) because I was leading all the way and felt I had a good chance to win but it was not to be. It was nice to win before the year was over.”

Other winners of the Asprey Golfer of the Month Awards this year have been Justin Rose (January and May), Jose Maria Olazabal (February), Ernie Els (March and July), Retief Goosen (April), Miles Tunnicliff (June), Graeme McDowell (August), Sam Torrance (September) and Padraig Harrington (October).
