Lafeber moves ahead in Madrid

Maarten Lafeber took the lead away from Padraig Harrington and Trevor Immelman when the Telefonica Madrid Open resumed at Club de Campo.

Lafeber was among the players unable to finish on Friday night because of an earlier fog delay and he returned to birdie two of his last three holes.

That gave him a second successive 65, a 12-under-par halfway total and a one-stroke advantage over Harrington and Immelman, both of whom managed to complete their second rounds on Friday.

Lafeber could and probably should have been two clear. At the long seventh - his 16th hole and first of the day - he missed a three-foot birdie putt.

But he made amends with 10-footers on the next two greens.
