McGovern tops Irish Order of Merit

Headfort professional Brendan McGovern has won the PGA Irish Region Order of Merit for the season.

He has finished a short head in front of John Dwyer (Ashbourne) with Leslie Walker (Dundalk) in third place and Philip Walton (Westpoint Fitness Centre) fourth.

Dwyer had a chance to catch McGovern at the top of the list but today's end-of-the-season Self help pro-am tournament at Castlewarden had to be called off because of torrential rain.

The event has not been refixed.
