American captain Curtis Strange tonight defended Tiger Woods’ early morning practice session that denied fans the chance to see the world number one in action.

Woods was due to join the rest of his American team-mates to play the front nine holes at 9.00am on the final practice day at The Belfry ahead of the Ryder Cup.
