Bernhard Langer, the one player in this week’s American Express world championship at Mount Juliet to have won a title on the Irish course, suffered a horror start at Mount Juliet today.

The 45-year-old German, who lifted the 1994 Irish Open with a 13 under par total, double bogeyed both the 175-yard third and 402-yard fourth and instantly dropped six strokes behind early leader Chris DiMarco.
