McGovern shoots to top of Killester pro-am
Brendan McGovern again shot to the top of the leaderboard after the Killester Travel pro-am tournament at Greenore, the curtain-raiser to the 36-holes PGA Challenge event there this week.
McGovern covered the Greenore course in 69 shots - two-under-par - despite the windy conditions.
He had two shots to spare over Damian Mooney and Jimmy Heggarty.
After starting at the 10th hole, the winner covered his outward run in one-under-par 35 with birdie three at the 15th and eight pars.
He picked up another birdie at the long second hole, lost that shot at the par four seventh but regained it at the ninth for an inward run of 34.
The Headfort Club pro made it a double by leading in the winning team on 91 points.
His amateurs were Tony O'Rourke (13), Richard Davis (17) and Jack Duffy (22), all members of Ardee.
