David Toms’ share of the lead in the Open championship lasted only 10 minutes this morning at a bleak, wet Muirfield.

Toms, the USPGA champion, carded a four-under 67 in glorious weather yesterday to join compatriot Duffy Waldorf and Swede Carl Pettersson at the top of the leaderboard.
