Jaidee heads home

Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee withdrew from his first Open Championship today following his first-round 80.

The 32-year-old, a former paratrooper who became the Asia tour’s player of the year last season, had the second-worst score of the opening day and chose not to tee off again in the pouring rain which greeted the early starters.
