Jobe waiting on permission from 'chief'

American golfer Brandt Jobe is seeking permission from ‘‘the chief’’ to play in the Open championship at Muirfield next week.

Jobe’s third-place finish in the Advil Western Open in Chicago on Sunday earned him a spot, but his wife Jennifer is pregnant with their second child.

While the baby is not due until August 14 she has been on bed rest the last seven weeks, and Jobe said: ‘‘I want to go, but I have to talk to the chief and see what’s going on. We’ll do a lot of talking before we decide.’’
