Two Danes and a Swede lead after day three
Three Scandinavian players are tied for the lead after today’s third round of the Murphy’s Irish Open at the Fota Island golf course.
Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn and Soren Hansen join Sweden’s Niclas Fasth on 11-under-par going into the final day after rounds of 63, 64 and 63 respectively.
The trio are followed by three more players who are just one shot back on ten-under-par, Englishman Richard Bland, Darren Fichardt from South Africa and Eduardo Romero from Argentina.
Eamonn Darcy is the best placed of the Irish after a round of 68 today left him on eight-under-par and tied for eleventh place while Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke are a further shot back and tied for eighteenth place.
Of the other Irish players still in the field, Des Smyth is on six-under-par, Padraig Harrington is on five-under-par and Phillip Walton is on three-under-par.
