Montgomerie in split from caddie

Colin Montgomerie and caddie Alastair McLean have ended their 10-year partnership.

Colin Montgomerie and caddie Alastair McLean have ended their 10-year partnership.

The split has been announced on the eve of the Benson and Hedges International at The Belfry.

Montgomerie has not had a tournament win since the Scandinavian Masters last August - his longest barren spell for seven years.

Manager Guy Kinnings said: "It's very much a personal matter between the two.

"My reading is that even with things having been as successful as they were Colin feels a change is needed.

"It's not a decision that's been taken lightly, that's for sure. They're mates as well as being very, very successful colleagues."
