Ireland's Darren Clarke has finished runner-up at the prestigious Shell Houston Open at the Tournament Players Club at The Woodlands.

Clarke finished the US tour event on 16-under-par after shooting 71 today but missed out on top spot to Vijay Singh. The talented Fijian finished with a score of 22-under-par to take the title.

Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal finished third on 15-under-par.

Singh was in fine form and put together the best opening three rounds ever at the Tournament Players Club at The Woodlands, shooting a 6-under-par 66 on Saturday.

That meant Singh enjoyed a three-stroke lead over Clarke going into the final round of the competition.
