Golf: Karlsson takes lead at Dubai Desert Classic

Sweden’s Robert Karlsson has taken the lead on day one of the Dubai Desert Classic after carding a five-under-par opening-round 67 this morning.

Karlsson leads by one stroke from his compatriot, Niclas Fasth, who is tied for second place with South Africa’s Ernie Els and Scotland’s Sam Torrance, who has still to complete his round. Ireland’s Padraig Harrington was in 24th place on one under par after three holes.
