Nick Faldo is four shots off the pace after the first round of the Caltex Singapore Masters.

An opening four-under-par 68 at the Laguna National saw him stay in touch with early leader Nick O'Hern.

O'Hern's 64 gave him a one-shot lead over Christophe Pottier with Spain's Carlos Rodiles in third on six under and Jean Van de Velde in a large group another shot behind.

Faldo said: "That was a good score and I'll take that. I struggled at times so I need to find a bit more of a comfort zone with my swing.

"Every time I tried to hit a fade I made a mess of it so I quickly stopped trying to do that, but I putted great and that saved my day really."

Ian Woosnam was well back, struggling on a one-over-par 73.
