Pebble Beach: Perez powers into the lead

Pat Perez fired a seven-under-par 65 to surge into a four-shot lead midway through the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, which is played on three courses in California.

While world number one Tiger Woods struggled though the first two rounds on his return to the Tour, Perez made easy work of the Spyglass Course, carding eight birdies after an early bogey.

Perez is four strokes clear of two-time US Open champion Lee Janzen.

Woods also played Spyglass but managed just a 73 and is 12 shots off the pace.
